Know Your Options When It Comes to an Unplanned Pregnancy

Our advice to you is to make sure you consider all your options wisely. We are available to speak to you any time, day or night, to help you make this important decision. Below are some issues we can review with you.

Issues to Consider

Are you ready to raise a child?

Do you feel that you have the life experience, knowledge, and discipline to raise and teach a child? Can you deal with exhaustion and frustration without taking it out on the child? Do you feel that you are ready to be a parent for the rest of your life?

How much time will you have to devote to this child?

Do you go to college? Are you still in school? Do you want an education? Do you work? Who will take care of the child in the meantime, and if you have to pay for child care, will you be able to afford it?

Where will my child grow up?

Where do you live? Are there good schools? Is it safe? Is there a park or yard for the child to run around?

What environment will my child experience?

Do you have roommates or live with others? Will they be a good influence and help create a positive atmosphere for your child to grow up?

Will this child have two parents?

While there are many single mothers who are successfully raising their children, some believe it is important to raise a child with two parents. If your child’s father isn’t involved, can you parent alone? Is there another male (your dad, brother, uncle) who could be a positive male role model in your child’s life, or is adoption the best option?

Who will help you raise this child?

Do you have anyone willing to support you mentally, emotionally, physically, and financially? Do you have a good network of family and friends who are willing to help you? Is the child’s father involved?

What if you have other children?

Will parenting this child deprive your other children of necessities?

Can you afford to raise this child? Will it be enough?

Money should not be the reason you choose adoption, but if you place a child, you can obtain financial assistance with your rent, utilities, food, transportation, phone, clothes, and more.
