Attorney | Jacksonville Office

Mary “Molly” McCarthy is an attorney in the Jacksonville office of Tate Healey Webster, where she devotes her practice to adoption and family building. A Jacksonville native, Molly has dedicated her career to protecting and advocating for children and families, with experience that spans private practice, the courts, and nonprofit organizations.

Molly earned her law degree, cum laude, from the University of Richmond School of Law, where she received a Dean’s Scholarship and earned a Certificate in Family Law. While in law school, she worked in the Children’s Defense Clinic, gaining hands-on experience representing young people and strengthening her passion for child advocacy. She also served on the Career Development Office Student Advisory Board and was an active member of Richmond Women’s Law.

Molly began her legal career as an intern with the United States District Court for the Middle District of Florida, where she worked with the Honorable Marcia Morales Howard. She also interned with the Center for Children’s Rights in Jacksonville, the State Attorney’s Office for the Fourth Judicial Circuit, and the Guardian ad Litem Program. These experiences gave her a unique perspective on the challenges children and families face in the legal system and deepened her commitment to solutions that prioritize stability and love.

Before joining Tate Healey Webster, Molly practiced on the in-house legal team at Landmark Title in Jacksonville, where she drafted contracts, resolved complex title issues, and facilitated closings. While her real estate work sharpened her transactional skills, her heart has always been in adoption and child advocacy, making Tate Healey Webster the natural home for her practice.

Molly is admitted to the Florida Bar. She earned her undergraduate degree in Sociology, magna cum laude, from the University of Georgia, where she was an Honors Program graduate and a Leadership Fellow in the Institute for Leadership Advancement.

Outside the office, Molly enjoys cooking Italian food, traveling, and cheering on the Georgia Bulldogs. She is active in community service, including UGA Miracle benefiting Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta and Orphan Outreach.
